Our trip will take us through some of the safest destinations in Asia. All countries on our itinerary are considered safe for tourists with normal precautions. Each destination has its own unique considerations, but overall, these are well-developed tourism destinations with good infrastructure and healthcare facilities.
While our trip is planned for July-August 2025, which generally offers favorable weather conditions, it's important to note this is the rainy season in some destinations. The main health considerations will be:
Each family member has been assigned a safety buddy, and we'll use the WhatsApp group "Mata Asia 2025" for all communications during the trip.

Vaccination Timeline
Consult with your healthcare provider at least 6-8 weeks before departure. Some vaccines require multiple doses over time.

Pack enough for the entire trip plus a 1-week buffer. Carry prescriptions with generic names. Keep medications in original packaging with labels.
Our family travel kit includes pain relievers, anti-diarrheal medication, antihistamines, motion sickness remedies, band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and digital thermometer.
Use insect repellent with 20-30% DEET, especially in Malaysia and the Maldives. Wear long sleeves and pants at dawn/dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
Drink bottled or purified water. Be cautious with street food, especially in Malaysia. Avoid raw or undercooked meat, fish, and eggs.
Use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen, especially in the Maldives where UV index is extremely high. Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors.
Pre-Trip Medical Checklist
All destinations will be hot and humid in July-August. Plan for frequent hydration and rest breaks. Carry electrolyte packets to prevent dehydration.
East Asia is 7 hours ahead of Spain. Begin adjusting sleep schedules 3 days before departure. Stay hydrated during flights and avoid alcohol.
For Maldives snorkeling, always use buddy system and never swim alone. Be aware of currents and follow resort safety guidelines.
Mom's shellfish allergy: Carry EpiPen in carry-on luggage. Learn to communicate this allergy in local languages (translation cards prepared).
